1. Starting an online store


I am not too tech savvy, and have no IT experience. Will I be able to set up my catalog of products on my own?

The essence of Marginify lies in the simplicity of our platform. Setting up your catalog is easy as snap, on our wizard-like interface, and you should be able to set up in no time. We also make it a point, to offer a demo to all our customers, so that they can experience the simplicity and ease of using Marginify firsthand. Of course, should you need any assistance or help in setting it up yourself, we are just a phone call away.

How much time would it take for me to set up my entire product catalog?

That would depend entirely on the number of and type of products you have. However, we have tried to keep the catalog building process as simple and efficient as possible for you, by including a "Duplicate product" option, which allows you to create multiple instances of a similar product, which may have minor differences only in pricing or some other aspect, vis-a-vis going through the entire process of adding a product and it's details right from scratch for every individual product you wish to sell.

We also have an option for bulk upload of your products. You can just fill up the excel and send it to us along with images. We would get it uploaded for you

What kind of products can I sell at my online store?

Virtually anything that can be legally sold on the internet. Some of the existing stores using the Marginify platform sell stuff that ranges from wacky T-shirts, apparel, designer footwear and personal accessories, to products like personalized chocolates, health juices and handicrafts. So if you're a designer who makes creative stuff, a small-time SME that manufactures an awesome product/s, or the aunty in your neighborhood who makes mouth-watering home-made chocolates, Marginify can help you establish your presence online, and make your products easily accessible to a much wider audience.

How long does it take after I build my product catalog, for all of the products to appear on my online store?

The additions/changes you make to your catalog would be effective on your store, as soon as you click the "Update" button on the 'Add Product' page. As we have said before, you are in complete control of your online store, and can make changes, additions, deletions as per your requirements, and they will reflect immediately on your store

What if I want to stop selling a particlular product or products on my store?

If you want to discontinue certain products from your catalog, all you need to do is find the product on your stock dashboard, click the "Delete" icon under the Action column, and confirm deletion in the message box that pops up. That's it--The product has now been deleted from your catalog.

What if I just want to temporarily stop selling a product due to supply issues, and then reinstate it later?

Marginify understands the dynamics of operating an online store intricately, and considered this possibility while developing the platform. Hence, we have also included a "Disable" option for you on the same dashboard, under the 'Status' column. This will not delete the product from your catalog, but just hide it from appearing on the store, till such time as you decide to reinstate it. Once you decide that you want it back, all you need to do is to change it back to 'Enable' status. Simple as that!!

I want to be able to prominently display a few of my signature products on my home page permanently. Is that possible?

Of course it is. We have included an option to select as many as 4-10 products from each category, which can be featured on your home page depending upon the layout you have selected.

I would like to able to include a picture of my products on my store. Will I be able to do that on Marginify?

By all means. You can easily upload upto as many as 5 pics per product, for all of your products, right from your store dashboard. Visitors to your online store wouold also be able to view a zoomed-in image of the pic, when they hover their cursor over the thumbnail image of the product.

I already have a domain name of my own. Can I use that for my online store?

Sure, you can. With Marginify, you can have your online store set up on your own domain name

I do not have my own domain name, and would like to book one for my online store. Can you help me out?

Of course we can. Domain names are available for as little as Rs 80/- per month. You can book your domain name from any of the sites below, and if you need any help, we'd be happy to assist you.

I am providing custom service and want customers to enquire about Price and services?

Yea, this is definetly possible. We have an option called enquiry only. You just need create a new product or edit current product and change the status to Enquiry only. Now, you want to show the price of your products, you can enter the price as well. Otherwise, you can keep the price as blank. You customers would get an option to enquire about this products.

I have a product which I want to show in diffent categories.

Currently it is not directly possible for Products to appear in different categories. There is an easy workaround to it. You just need to duplicate the products and just edit it and change the name of the category. This way you will get the same product in different categories.

When does my store billing period starts?

Normally store billing period starts directly from the date of payment. But you are applying payment gateway through us, then to make sure that you start your business will all of the payment options, we give a buffer period of 30 days. In this case, start date of billing would be date of payment gateway going live or 30 days from the date of the payment whichever is earlier.

I want a refund, what is the refund policy?

The subscription fee is refundable based upon below policy. If cancellation of Marginify Subscription is presented Within 30 days of date of payment, 33% would be deducted prorata basis and rest would be returned.

After 30 days of date of payment, 50% would be deducted prorata basis and rest would be returned.
After 90 days of payment, no refund requests would be entertained.
Please note: the refund case approval is on case-to-case basis, mainly on the basis of if there is a problem that cannot be solved.

How to add Link in the Product description section

In the Product description toolbar, there is an option called Insert/Edit Link(chain symbol). To add link, follow below steps.

  • a) Write your word which you want to link at the required place in Product description.
  • b) Select the complete word.
  • c) Click on Insert/Edit link(chain symbol).
  • d) Add your link in the section provided and complete the process.

By doing this, you link gets added on the Product description section.

I would like to open an online store to sell T-shirts and sportswear. But I would like to be able to include different sizes for the same product, rather than create multiple instances of the same product for different sizes.

The beauty of Marginify lies in the fact that your online store is highy customizable as per your requirements. You can most certainly include options for different sizes OR different colors while adding your product to the online catalog. All you need to do is tick a single checkbox on the 'Add Product' page indicating that you want to include a custom option, and start adding the variants of your choice to your product.

I want to be able to offer a selection of colors as well as sizes for apparel on my store.

Its very easy to do so. You can do so by adding Option as well as suboption. For example, Option could be Blue T-shirt while Suboption could be various sizes like S,M,L,XL of Blue T-shirt.

How many custom variants can I add under one product. I am selling stoneware products and would like to offer a choice of as many colors as possible.

With Marginify, you can add as many options for colors as you would like to offer. There is no limit on the number of options you would like to include for the custom attribute of a product. As we have said before, Marginify is all about offering the most customizable experience in the simplest interface possible to you as a store owner, and the most user-friendly shopping experience to your customers.

My family is in Fancy store and I would like to extend the same via an online store. Can you help me open an online Fancy store?

We can certainly help you establish an online presence for your store, but there may limitations on the types of fancy item you can sell at the online store.

How will I be able to manage my orders?

Right from the Orders section on your store dashboard. As soon as a customer places an order, it will appear under the 'received" section n your Order dashboard. You have the option to mark a received order as dispatched or delivered, and even cancel the order. Your customer is kept informed at every step of the order fulfilment cycle, through auto-generated emails, and you do not have to worry about intimating individual customers.

New Order Module:-

In this new Order module we have came up with new features so that you can better manage your orders.

  1. Sorting by Date : You can now ort all the orders according to Latest first or oldest first.
  2. Filtering of orders: You can now filter your orders by payment mode, order stage. For example, you want to see only COD orders which are in received stage, you can do that.
  3. Search within the order: You can now search in the orders direcly using order number, customer name or product name.
  4. Moving of orders across the stage: Now you can move your orders across the stages. For example, if you have dispatched your order and customer have returned it, now you can take back the order. You can now move this order back to received stage or cancel stage.
  5. Downloading of Order data across stage: You can download the order data in excel form from all the stages of your order.
  6. Printing of your invoice: You can print and download your invoice from all the stages of your order.
  7. New Invoice format: We have new professional invoice format. This includes an option to give custom invoice number and also VAT/Sales Tax calculation
  8. Custom Invoice Number: You can now give your own custom invoice number while printing of your invoice.
  9. Tax Break-up: You can now show VAT/CST on your invoice to your customers.
  10. Comment: You can add comments to your orders.
  11. Alert messages: Whenever your receive new order or enquiry on your store, you will receive a alerts in the dashboard.
  12. View Entire order history: You can view entire order history at one go

2. Managing contents


1. Banner slide show

How many type of banners can I add?

You can add 3 types of Banners.

  1. Big Image type.
  2. Small Image Type.
  3. Flash Type.

But, at a time, you can enable only one type of banner.

How many banners can I add in a slideshow?

You can add as many banners as you want on the dashboard, but only can be enable 8 at a time for the slideshow if they are Big Image/ Small Image type and only one if it is a Flash banner.

Can we have more than 1 kind of banners in a slideshow?

Only one type of banners can be used in a slideshow at a time.

Will the banners automatically resize if I change the Layout?

Banners do not resize on changing the layouts. Recommended pixel size for every layout should be followed.

If you change the layout, then you will have to resize the banners and upload them again.

Can I add transition effects in banner slideshow?

Yea, you can add transition effect to your banners.

Are the banners clickable? Can I add any external link to it?

Yes. To add an external link to any banner following is the procedure:

  • Go to Manage my store section
  • Go to Content --> Banner Slideshow.
  • Click on Edit button provided for in front of the banner you wish to link.
  • Add the URL of the page you want to link with the banner and update.
Can I decide the order of banners in the slideshow?

Order of the banners in the slideshow can be changed by moving them move up or down. Go to Content --> Banner Slideshow and then move the banners up or down as per your need.

What all formats are supported for a banner?

You can upload JPG, GIF, JPEG or PNG file for Big and Small Banners and SWF file for flash banners.

2. Static Pages

Can I add external pages on the website?

you can add it in the form of Static site pages. These can also be external links.
For adding a site page go to Manage My Store> Site pages> Add new page.
You can add to types of Site pages.
Page Content - This is the page on which you can write your own content.
Redirect to a link - In this case, you can provide external link of the page.

Where are the site pages displayed on the Home Page?

Site pages can be displayed either on footer or on the menu bar.
You can choose where you want your site pages to be displayed.
Go to Content --> Site pages. Over here, you will find options below options.
Feature on Top menu - If you choose this option, then your site page will appear on the top menu bar.
Feature on Footer - If you choose this option, then your site page will appear in the footer section.

Can I create or edit content of the Site pages from the dashboard?

Yes these static pages have a What-You-See-Is-What-You-Get Editor. So you can add Text/Images/Tables and create HTML templates as well.
You can also directly edit the HTML content by choosing HTML editor option.
Go to Content --> Site pages and then Create/Edit any Site page.

How many static pages can I add? Is there any limitation?

There is no limitation with regards to the number of static pages, one can add any number of site pages.

Can I add Youtube Video Links on the Home page?

You can add a Youtube video link on footer or Menu bar. To add a video link You can go to Manage My Store> Content> Site Pages> Add a new page and select “ Redirect to a link” in Page Type. You can paste the video URL and click on save and upload.

Are the site pages Search Engine Optimized?

First 150-160 characters are automatically set as Meta Description while Site page name is taken as Title Tag. It can help improve SEO of the store as well. Currently there is no separate module to set Meta tags for Site pages.

3. Manage Site Elements

How can I add Meta description for the Home page of the store?

Adding an SEO description for your online store is a 5 minute process. Follow the steps below to add the SEO Meta description for you store.

  • Step 1: Login to Marginify Dashboard
  • Step 2: Go to Content > Manage Site Elements.
  • Step 3: Add your Description in the 1st field on the page having label Write a brief description about your store.
  • Step 4: Scroll to bottom of the page and click update to save the settings.
How do I remove the dummy testimonials from the store?

To clear/delete the dummy testimonials for Layout 1 follow the process mentioned below.

  • Step 1: Login to Marginify Dashboard.
  • Step 2: Go to Content > Manage Site Elements.
  • Step 3: Click on Testimonials Box under the heading 3rd Party Widgets.
  • Step 4: Delete (You can update testimonials with yours) all the content in the boxes.
  • Step 5: Scroll to bottom of the page and click update to save the settings.
How do I add social footprints to my store?

Currently you can social footprints like Facebook, Twitter, Blog, Pinterest and Google+. To add the social footprints follow the steps below.

  • Step 1: Login to Marginify Dashboard
  • Step 2: Go to Content > Manage Site Elements.
  • Step 3: Add the links of the Social page you want to display in the respective fields under Your Social Footprint Section.
  • Step 4: Scroll to bottom of the page and click update to save the settings.
How do I add Facebook Like box to my store?

To add Facebook like box to your online store follow the process below.

  • Step 1: Login to Marginify Dashboard
  • Step 2: Go to Content > Manage Site Elements.
  • Step 3: Under 3rd Party Widget Section add your Facebook page link in the input field given for Facebook like box.
  • Step 4: Scroll to bottom of the page and click update to save the settings.

4 Store Info

How do I change the logo for invoice and automated emails?

You can change the logo which will be displayed on invoice as well as automated emails. To change the logo follow the steps below.

  • Step 1: Login to Marginify Dashboard.
  • Step 2: Go to Content > Store Info.
  • Step 3: Select the logo file in Your Store's Logo Section. Note: Logo should be of 250px X 100px in dimensions and only in .JPG or .PNG format only.
  • Step 4: Scroll to the bottom of the page and click save button to save the changes.
Can I use two separate email ids for support email id and to receive notification emails?

Yes, you can use two separate email ids for support and to receive notifications emails. Follow the steps below to set the two different email ids.

  • Step 1: Login to Marginify Dashboard.
  • Step 2: Go to Content > Store Info.
  • Step 3: Under the section Customer Support & Notifications > Support Email ID enter the email address you want to display on the store as the support email id.
  • Step 4: Under the section Customer Support & Notifications > Email ID for Notifications enter the email address where you want to receive the store notification emails.
  • Step 5: Scroll to the bottom of the page and click save button to save the changes.
  • Note: You can follow the same procedure for the phone numbers too.
Can I change the address which is to be printed on invoices?

Yes, you can change the address which is to be printed on invoices as per your requirements Follow the steps below to change the address.

  • Step 1: Login to Marginify Dashboard.
  • Step 2: Go to Content > Store Info.
  • Step 3: Under Your Registered Office Address Section Modify the text fields as per your need.
  • Step 4: Scroll to the bottom of the page and click save button to save the changes.

Which countries and currencies are usable with Marginify?

We support various currencies like Indian Rupee,USD,EUR,GBP,Australian dollar, Nepalise Rupee and AED which covers most of the countries.

What kind of online payment methods can I offer to my customers?

All Major Indian payment gateways are integrated with our stores (Including Ccavenue, EBS, DirecPay, payU, PayTm, Payu Paisa). Once activated, you can accept payments through all major Credit/Debit cards, NetBanking & Cash Cards.

I would also like to offer offline payment methods like Cash-on-delivery for my customers. Is that possible?

Of course, it is. You can offer COD as well as Bank deposit as offline payment options to your customers. We have Also integrated Delhivery to our platform - So you can offer the offline payment mode on your store, without any of the risks involved as in COD

Q.4 I have heard that integrating a payment gateway is a lengthy, and time-consuming process. Will Marginify help me out with this?

We give Starter Package of DirecPay/PayU/Payu Paisa Payment Gateway for Free with 6 months subscription of Marginify and above. AMC and Setup fee waived. Once you register with Marginify, we start the process. We would provide you the Account opening form that you need to fill. Also, Payment gateway would process your form and if everything is fine, they would send you an Agreement through Courier and list of document required. You need to complete the Agreement and attach the required documents and send it back to Payment gateway. Post this your Payment Gateway activation would be done.

2 Shipping & Delivery

How to add various shipping options for your store?

A lot of you wanted more control over domestic & international shipping policies & COD options. Here are various shipping options available for your store.

A. Weight-based Shipping: To ensure that you charge optimum shipping rates, you can now enter exact weight of your products and define shipping rates for each weight bracket. Note: To enable a flat weight based shipping rate, you will first need to enter weight for every product on your store.

B. Order-based Shipping: Rs50 flat shipping charge on every order under Rs. 500. With order-based shipping option, you can specify a standard shipping rate for each order, irrespective of the number of products. Note: Both these features have been introduced for domestic as well as international shipping.
Where Can You Enable Them: On your Marginify Dashboard, Settings >> Shipping & Delivery >> Shipping Policies

2. Country-based International Shipping
Do you ship your products only to a handful of countries? This feature will let you go a step further & define shipping rates for every individual country instead of, for the entire region.
Where Can You Enable It: On your Marginify dashboard, Settings >> Shipping & Delivery >> International Shipping >> Shipping Regions

3. Limit COD to Particular Products Don't want certain products to have the COD facility? Just mark the products for which you would not like to allow COD service. Note: If a customer adds 2 products in a cart & one doesn’t allow COD, then the COD option is not shown for the complete order.
Where Can You Enable It: On your Marginify dashboard Stock >> Products >> Add New Product/ Edit Product Options

Most of my customers order products which they want gift-wrapped and delivered as a gift. Does Marginify provide that option?

You have the option to enable/disable the gift-wrap option for your customer from the 'Checkout options" section of your store dashboard. Of course, it is entirely up to you as the store owner, whether you want to charge additionally for that, or offer it at no cost. In case you want to charge extra, we have also included the option for you to specify the additional charges on the same page.

Enable the Allow Gift Wrap option by going to Marginify Dashboard->Settings-> Check out options. There, you can also set an extra charge for gift wrapping of your products.

Want to restrict Sundays and public holidays for Delivery during checkout

If you are looking for restricting delivery on specific days like Sundays or national holidays, then this is the feature you are looking for.

Most of my customers order products which they want gift-wrapped and delivered as a gift. Does Marginify provide that option?

You have the option to enable/disable the gift-wrap option for your customer from the 'Checkout options" section of your store dashboard. Of course, it is entirely up to you as the store owner, whether you want to charge additionally for that, or offer it at no cost. In case you want to charge extra, we have also included the option for you to specify the additional charges on the same page.

I want the customers to choose specific delivery date and time?

Yes, you can allow your customers to select specific date of delivery for the products they buy. The delivery date they can choose can only be after the maximum number shipping days to deliver set by you.

To set the delivery dates, please go to Settings-> Shipping & Delivery-> Delivery Dates. To enable specific delivery date and time option, go to Settings --> checkout options and enable Specific Delivery date and time option.

If it crosses 12 PM in the morning, then I dont want to allow delivery for that day

Can my customers add products to their cart without seeing the product description?

Yes, the Quick Add to Cart option allows your customers to add your products to their shopping cart without having to open the product description page. For reference, please look at the images below.

Customers can directly add product to cart from Home/catalog pages. This way then can add multiple products to the cart. This is good for stores which sells generic products like Vegetables or branded products.

Go to Settings --> Checkout options and Enable Quick Add to cart option.

I want my customers to automatically receive an email when they place an order, as well as when their order is dipatched from my store. Is that possible with Marginify?

Marginify comes integrated with all the requisite settings required for Shipping & auto-responder mails. We ensure that your customer is always informed about every activity of his order - registration, placing the order, dispatch of order, delivery of order, etc.. without you having to spend any extra time on it.

Can I change the design/content of the email that go to my customers?

Yea, it is completely possible. You just need to got to Customer Notification. You can customize all emails - registraion, placing of the order, dispatch of order, canceling of the order, Incomplete order.

Can I customize SMS that go to my customers?

Customization of SMS are not possible due to Tria regulations. Any SMS that go to your customers need to be approved before they go. For this, we have created standard templates and got them approved from them so that you can a seamless experience.

Would I get notifications if any customer registers on my store or places an order?

Yea, we notify you with email and SMS whenever any person registers or places an order.

Can I receive notifications on my Personal Email but I dont want to show this detail to my customers?

You can very well do so. You can create 2 types of contact details. You can go to Store info and create it. "Customer support and notification" allows you to create contact details specificly for your customers. This detail would be shown to your customers and they would receive notifications from the same email as well.

"Personal notification" allows you to receive notifications from us but this details are never shared with your customers

I want to be able to measure the performance my online store. Will I be able to do that with Marginify?

Currently, we have integrated Google Analytics in every store. As you know, Google Analytics is the best analytics tool out there. If you have any special suggestions for any other tool, that can be integrated too. In-dashboard analytics aren't available as of now. But we have plans for the same. That would let you see the complete sales funnel, profits, and all other important analytical data for your store.

How to Create Discount coupons for your Marginify powered online store

You can create coupons from your Marginify dashboard in 5 easy steps.

  • Step 1: Login to your Marginify dashboard.
  • Step 2: Go to ‘Marketing’, select Discount Coupon.
  • Step 3: Click on the create coupon button.
  • Step 4: Enter the details.
    • • Select a specific date when the coupon expires and/or how many times the coupon can be used.

Yes, you can create the discount coupons.
You can also create the multiple discount coupons like Diwali2014, MondayOff,SundayFunday.
Also each discount coupons can have different offers.

Can I offer the different types of discount coupons?

Yes, you can offer the three different types of discount coupons. These are Percentage off on the order, Rupees off on the order and Free Shipping. Please visit Marginify Dashboard>Marketing>Discount Coupon>Create New Discount Coupon>Select Offer Type.

I don't want to allow the discount coupons in some products. Is it possible?

Yes, you can disallow the discount coupon for the products.
For example,you can disallow the discount coupons on the products which you are already selling on discount.
Please go to Marginify Dashboard>Product>More Product Details>Disallow Discount Coupon.

Can I restrict use of the discount coupons

Yes, you can restrict use of the coupon.
You can apply restriction as Minimum purchase amount. For example, your coupon will be applied only after order amount crosses say Rs. 1000.
Also, you may not want your customers to avail more discount on products which are already selling at discount. So, you can restrict such products as well.
Please go to Dashboard>Marketing>Discount Coupon>Create New Discount Coupon.

How can I set the validity of the discount coupons?

You can set the validity of the discount Coupon in three different ways.
You can specify the date till when it is valid, number of times it can be redeemed or unlimited redemptions.
Please go to Dashboard>Marketing>Discount Coupon>Create New Discount Coupon>Coupon Expires On.

How can I delete the discount coupons?

Please visit Marginify Dashboard>Marketing>Discount Coupon. Click on the action to delete the discount coupon.

How can I edit the discount coupons?

Please visit Marginify Dashboard>Marketing>Discount Coupon. Click on the action to delete the discount coupon.

Where can I see the status of the discount coupons?

How the customers can use the discount coupons?

After adding the product to the cart, customers can enter the discount coupon and avail the offer.

I would like to be able to keep track of repeat customers who visit my store? Can I do that with Marginify?
  • - Sure you can. We have included a Customer management option on your store dashboard, which will let you view the following information:
  • - Customer name and email address
  • - Customer Location
  • - How long he or she has been a customer
  • - The amount the customer has shopped with you till date
  • - The total number of orders by customer till date

A customer has made the order using guest checkout option. Will his details be registered?

Yes, even if a customer has made order using guest checkout option his details will be registered. You can visit Marginify Dashoboard>Customers.

Can I view who are the registered users and guest users?

Yes, you can view it.
